Our Background
In 2004, e|net was awarded an exclusive concession from the Irish Government to operate a wholesale, open-access telecommunications infrastructure known as the Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs). This initial agreement was based on 28 locations and was known as Phase 1.
In 2009, e|net was awarded a second, exclusive concession to manage Phase 2 of the MAN programme across an additional 66 towns across Ireland.
In managing the MANs, e|net has transformed the Irish telecommunications industry by stimulating competition, reducing bandwidth costs and accelerating Ireland’s broadband position.
Our passion is providing towns and cities in Ireland with a communications infrastructure that allows them to compete on a global stage and we are committed to:
-
Implementing and managing cost-effective fibre optic network connections, open to all operators equally;
-
Offering best-in-class capabilities for network build and management of fibre based facilities;
-
Increasing the addressable market for fibre-based products and services within the regions;
-
Providing a professional service to our customers using world-class Service Level Agreements;
-
Making it easier and more cost-effective for operators to deliver broadband and other telecommunications services to more customers.
